A few months ago, like 8…

I found, on Pintrest, a recipe for homemade laundry soap. I’m not a person who is allergic to anything so I don’t have to use a special type of soap. And I’m not one of those people *cough* snobs *cough* that fight the establishment and say,  “I’m too good to buy laundry soap from a store” (Not that there’s anything wrong with you guys.

I AM one of those save money people though. And this blog I found through Pintrest  said that it cost around $20 to make this soap and it lasted her about 9 months. That’s roughly $2.00 a month on laundry soap. Sounds pretty good to me!

So here are the easy instructions!

1. Gather these things!

(I never really use this filter but I thought it looked cool!)

So that’s, Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda (4lbs), Arm and Hammer Baking Soda (4lbs), Borax (4lbs), Oxi Clean (4lbs) and Fels-Naptha(2) (it’s a bar soap).

2. Grate the Fels-Naptha!

It’s easier than grating cheese! And I used my cheese grater ’cause HEY! It’s just soap so it cleans it too!

It was recommended that you grate it in a garbage bag. It contains the mess. ALSO I put down a towel where I was working which I was really glad I did because I had a hole in the bottom of my bag and when I picked up the finished product some of it spilled! Fortunately it landed on the towel!

3. Add in the rest of the ingredients and mix!

I used a laundry soap bucket from our last laundry soap purchase. One of those big 5 gallon buckets.

Now when you are done, it’s a lot of soap…and also not a lot of soap.

The key is to use 1 Tbs! That’s it! And it totes works!

And to answer other questions you may have…

YES! The Fels-Naptha (grated soap) dissolves in the wash, in both hot and cold water

YES! You can use this in any washer. ANY washer.

NO! I am not Hispanic.

YES! I am awesome. Thank you for asking!
